Public Liability Claims
In Queensland a person who suffers an injury due to someone else’s negligence in certain circumstances is entitled to compensation through what is known as ‘public liability insurance’.
Those circumstances include:
- Shopping Centre accidents;
- Faulty goods causing injury;
- Hotel injuries; and
A claim for injuries sustained to do with public liability in Queensland are brought under the Personal Injuries Proceedings Act 2002. This in essence, allows a person to be compensated for damages including (but not limited to):
- Pain and Suffering
- Medical expenses (past and into the future);
- Past Economic Loss;
- Future Economic Loss;
- Legal costs;
- Care costs.
